It's finally here! If you've stuck around for all four parts of this series, you're a rockstar! Comment below and let me know! I'm dying to know who has relived my 2015 with me all of the way through four long, photo-filled blog posts!
This past year was absolutely amazing. It's still crazy that it's already over. The end of the year was just as busy and packed full of road trips as the first. So, prepare yourself. There's a lot of photos!
We spent October in Colorado. No travel. Phew. We did take a short road trip into Aspen, though. It was our first time visiting, and it was beautiful! We went with a group of awesome friends and #BokentheBerner, of course! And we kicked off the month with some lovely visitors!
The two badass chicks behind The Titlement Project spent a week in Denver and we were lucky enough to host them! Short story, they traveled around the United States interviewing people about their fears. They're badass. Their stories are badass. And I can't wait for the finished project to launch soon. Keep an eye on their website for updates!
I made an October Bucket List filled with all of the happy things!! We marked everything off of the list except for the Cider Mill and Pumpkin Patch. I did pick up some super cute pumpkins from our local store, so we'll pretend that counts!
Welcome to Aspen, y'all! Would you just look at that? It's breathtaking! We went on the most wonderful hike out of town. Wait until you see the view from the top!!
Family photo op with my two men. I'm a lucky lady!
The view from the top!! That's the town of Aspen way down among those trees. It's breathtaking!
We then headed to Maroon Bells, one of the most photographed spots in all of North America. Google it! My photographic skills weren't quite up to par. I was mesmerized by the water, though!! And #BokentheBerner found a puppy friend to play with while we waited for the sun to set!
Sunset time!! Go ahead ... "ooh" "ahh"!!
Family photo op #2 with my cuties!!
And then #BokentheBerner got neutered. Womp! Womp! He was a total champ with the cone, though. Although he did run into walls and nearly knock us over with it a dozen or so times!
Snow. Jury duty. Family time. And Thanksgiving. That about sums it up!
We spent the first Sunday of November in the emergency vet. It was a sad day. #BokentheBerner woke up that morning completely lame in his left leg, unable to walk. So, we rushed to the vet where they proceeded to do x-rays. We later found out that our sweet pup has severe elbow displaysia in both elbows. We have him on some wonderful vitamins/supplements and a slight anti-inflammatory now. He's the happiest pup you've ever seen and you'd never know he has anything wrong by looking at him. He will develop arthritis sooner rather than later, but with all of this love, I'm sure he'll be just fine!
We got our first big snow of the year!!
And #BokentheBerner LOVED it! He'd stay out in it all day, if we let him!
I had my first jury duty experience, and it was amazing. Said no one ever. But I mean it! It was a wonderful amazing experience and I would do it all over again tomorrow. I learned so much and felt truly honored to be able to take part in this great freedom.
Oh my heart! We got a new bedspread!! Josh wasn't nearly as excited as I was, but let me tell you, this made my heart quite happy!! I'm in love!
We started decorating for Christmas, but we decided not to get a tree, since we're gone for a large part of December. So, Josh soothed my sadness and agreed to hang all the lights from our ceiling! It was AMAZING!!
Thanksgiving Day was wonderfully heart- and belly-filling. We started the morning with some Starbucks and a cold, snowy walk with the pup. We then made a yummy breakfast, got ready, and took a quick "First Thanksgiving as a Family of 3" photo before heading out for lunch. We joined family and friends for a delicious lunch, met new people, ate too much, and felt so full of food and love. We then spent a quiet evening relaxing. It. Was. Amazing.
We've almost made it! One month and a dozen photos to go! But this month was a fun month filled with all of the friends and family and so much love!
Josh surprised me with tickets to The Nutcracker! I'd only been once when I was really young, and I had no memory of it. So, I was soo excited to go! It was wonderful and so fun to get dressed up and go out on the town with my main man!
I finally got the podcast equipment. Say hello to mic! :) The Grit and Glitter Podcast is launching next month (eek!). If you haven't already signed up for super fun email reminders - DO IT!!
In case you think we're crazy, we may be! This is the start of our second cross-country road trip of the year ... with a puppy! Denver, CO to my hometown in North Carolina is approximately a 24 hour drive. We drove straight through. Nuts, I tell you!! We're nuts!!
We drove through the night and stopped in Nashville for an awesome afternoon walk with #BokentheBerner! We were starting to go a little car crazy. We all needed a little air!
And finally we made it to Asheville (not my hometown, but where we spent the first weekend). My best friend had a baby in November and I got to meet his sweet, cuddly self! ((insert all of the heart eyes and love you can handle)) He is the BEST baby and so stinkin' handsome! I'm in love!! And she is such an amazing mommy. It was the sweetest gift to meet the baby her and her amazing hubby created!
Christmas week flew by and before we knew it, it was Christmas Day!! Josh's amazing dad and stepmom came up to my hometown to spend Christmas with us. It was such a busy, love-filled, wonderful day!!
Family. <3 We spent Christmas Day with my mom's side of the family. This isn't even half of us!! :)
My fam! (from left to right) Mom, me, niece, nephew, Josh (fiance), Dad, Brother #1, Sister-in-Law, Niece #2, Brother #2!! :)
Luckiest aunt in the whole wide world!
Josh holding the newest niece, our tiniest princess! Isn't she the cutest? All the love, people!! All the love!
Our "First Christmas as a Family of 3" photo. Boken's crazy eyes refused to get out of the photo.
We spent the day after Christmas with my Dad's side of the family. I only have this one photo to share, but it's of the grandchildren of the family, all grown (it's a shame we don't act it)!! I love these people more than life itself!
And after a long drive back across the country, we made it back home, safe and sound. And we ended the year with #BokentheBerner still thinking he's a tiny lap dog! :)
